Eva Østbye joined CDA in 2015 as the Country Director to Myanmar. Eva has extensive experience with international collaboration both as a researcher and practitioner in governmental and non-governmental organisations, with particular focus on conflict affected situations. She has been engaged in development, humanitarian and peacebuilding efforts in a broad range of countries such as Malawi, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Sudan, South Sudan and Indonesia/Aceh.
As senior adviser in the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad), she supported the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its partners on issues related to conflict sensitivity, peacebuilding and statebuilding. Serving at the Embassy of Norway in Khartoum, Eva managed grants to civil society and UN organizations, with a particular responsibility for initiatives related to gender and conflict situations. Her practise has been inspired by CDA, its programmes and community of practitioners since the release of Do No Harm: How Aid Can Support Peace – or War in 1999.
