Surendrini joined the CDA Myanmar office in July 2017 as Deputy Country Director. She has been working in Myanmar since 2013 as an Independent Advisor for Oxfam, the European Union Delegation, the Swiss Embassy, International Alert, and the Myanmar Consortium for Community Resilience. She served as the Head of the INGO Forum Myanmar from 2014 -2015.
Surendrini has been working on peace and conflict issues since 2002 when she began her career volunteering with the National Human Rights Commission in Nepal. Since then she has worked for numerous local and international organizations including as a Peacebuilding and Humanitarian Analyst for the Canadian Council for International Cooperation (2007-2010), Senior Humanitarian Policy Advisor for Oxfam (2010-2013), and Governance Coordinator for Oxfam in Mali (2014).
She has worked in Afghanistan, South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mali, Uganda and Nepal as a conflict advisor authoring numerous confidential and public reports on conflict sensitivity and protection. She holds a MA in Peace and Conflict Studies from the European University for Peace Studies. She is Canadian and Sri Lankan.
